Joy In The Mundane!

The Laundry!

I remember feeling so overwhelmed with all the laundry as a new parent. The baby goes through multiple outfits a day! Ha, you go through multiple outfits a day! I tried many different hacks to help with the mountain of laundry. My mindset stayed the same.

My mother, bless that woman, made mothering look easy! I don’t remember her complaining about laundry or housework or dishes, but that is a whole other topic for a different day.

What I do remember is doing things together as a family. That is something that I wanted to pass down to our children, an attitude of teamwork.

I wanted to share with you how we do laundry in the season of life we are currently in. Three littles under 6. They are at the stage they want to wear multiple outfits during the day. HA! Not in my house. LOL!

On the right, you will see my tribe. Each one of the children has a tote of clothes, and one tote is for all the kid’s PJs, which comes out to 4 toes total. Our children share a room for sleeping so it makes it very easy to put the totes under the bunk bed and toddler bed. We do not have any dressers in their room because they are climbers.

Here is the reason why I ditched the dresser. I found myself getting angrier when the children took all of their clothes out of the dresser drawers that I knew something had to change. I let them pick out what clothes they liked wearing the most and donated the rest. My big point with the tote is so that they don’t have an overwhelming amount of clothes, options to choose from.  When we started out with the totes when it was laundry day after washing and drying everything I would bring the clean laundry unfolded into their room. Separate it out and let them make it fit in their tote. UNFOLDED! I was not going to fold their laundry just so that they could unfold it and toss it all in the tote. We have been doing this for a year now. Our oldest is 6 and he folds his pile of clothes and puts it in his tote. Just the other day I saw our oldest teaching/showing, our middle child how to fold the right way. Y’all I didn’t “make” him fold his laundry. HE watched me fold my clothes and my husband’s clothes but we did not show him how to do it.

I truly believe this Idea was holy spirit inspired!  If we invite Him into EVERY area of our life, yes friends even the laundry room. HE will show up and inspire us to change our outlook and raise our children into the men and women He is calling them to become!

It’s my prayer that inspires you today.

No comparison, just inspiration!

There Is Joy In Sharing The Goodness of God!

I find joy and comfort in knowing that God doesn’t “waste” a storm that we go through! Two years have passed since I was sitting in this hospital room with my 4-year-old little boy. I have blocked this time out of my head and heart for many reasons. Recently I have felt the nudges from the Holy Spirit saying, “ It's time to peel back the layers of this event, to bring healing and give God the true glory he deserves.” So here I am being obedient to the Holy Spirit’s leading. How do I write a backstory Of three amazing crazy seasons in my life? How do I crunch them into a few paragraphs? Holy Spirit help me! I was that person who always disliked going to the hospital. I’m not sure where it stems from? It’s kind of funny now that I look back. All of my children came into this world just at the right time. God had a plan and a purpose for each one of them. My oldest was born at 26 weeks and spent almost 3 months in the NICU in San Diego. He made his grand entrance on the last day of ou...

Comparison with our Children

God created the world and keeps the sun in perfect orbit. He is our creator and the artist that pays attention to all the details.  Lately, I have been weary. Run down by the demands of life, motherhood, and homeschooling. I felt like I had nothing to give, and no encouragement to share with you because I have been taking on my season one day at a time. It wasn't until today that my son made a picture and showed it to me that something clicked in me.  God Created me.  God created my son.  God pays attention to all the details, nothing is a surprise to him.  I have something called dyslexia, after teaching my son kindergarten and first grade I realized he does as well. Homeschooling has proven itself challenging but so rewarding because I am able to cater to his needs more effectively. Reading was always a struggle for me in school and to this day I love to read it is just more challenging than the "normal" person. That's where this ah-ha moment happened.  M...
